Summer Break’s End

Don’t get me wrong–I love school. Heck, I even took a full summer session this year! (Never again.) But I’m going to miss summer vacation. Those 16 days (9, if we remove work days) have been so absent of responsibility.

One of our last summer days–and the last summer break post I’ll post this year–was a picnic up at Lynn Headwaters Connector. It’s in the same area as Lynn Peak, which I hiked a few weeks back with N & A.

No hiking today. Just hopping over rocks and across water!

Headwaters is a great place to picnic. Lynn Canyon, which is where the Greater Vancouver area’s more old school suspension bridge is located, is also a scenic choice, but Headwaters is far less crowded. (That being said, in addition to the suspension bridge, there’s a pool area where you can cliff jump. So if you’re looking for a bit more excitement, maybe choose the canyon for your picnic.)

So tempted to say something cheesy, like “and here we have to bright stars…”

We found a shady spot to sit down, and slowly munched through our lunches. We chatted for hours, but eventually, K and I decided to finally accept our ALS ice bucket challenge nominations…

Not going to post the video–that’d be embarrassing. We didn’t have ice, but at least we weren’t wasting water! And damn, it was cooold.

Luckily, it didn’t take us long to dry off. We went back to chatting about the present and the future and collectively wondering about V’s bizarre anti-love life. We always share a lot of laughs whenever we’re together, of course–that’s one of the best ways to spend time with friends.

Amanda is adorable!

We’ve been friends for so long… as the years go by, we still stick together. We get busier, we’re farther apart, but we always try and make time for each other. I’m grateful, to say the least.

Looking forward to next summer!
